A journey through European monuments and fine arts.
The exhibition presents fifteen selected paintings composed of puzzles from a private family collection, which began in 2021. The core of the paintings presented at the exhibition focuses on important monuments in Italy (Venice, Rome, Florence), Paris (Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre), and Vienna (Kunsthistorisches Museum) and related works of art.
The paintings are arranged in a coherent manner according to pre-conceived connections. At first glance, it may not be obvious what connection there is between a Dutch still life with flowers and a cathedral in Florence. Understanding is aided by the Latin name for flower – flos – and Florence – Florentia (blooming, flourishing).
An interesting connection is also offered by Breughel's painting The Building of the Tower of Babel and Teniers' Leopold Wilhelm's Gallery, the originals of which are kept at the Kunsthistorisches Museum/Art History Museum in Vienna.
We believe that the exhibition will appeal to a wide range of visitors and that fans of both old and modern art and architecture will find something to enjoy.
We wish you a pleasant experience. J St. N., exhibition curator.
