Château Stories
May Tours at the Castle
This year marks exactly ten years since the Kaplan family decided to save Nemilkov Castle from falling into oblivion. And this year, they are inviting all visitors to the May holidays—May 1–3 and May 8–10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. No groups, no set times. The tour feels more like a visit with friends: they’ll show you what’s been newly restored in the ballroom, chapel, or sacristy, and share the stories hidden behind the castle walls. Meanwhile, a refreshment stand will be open outside in the courtyard—so you can just drop by for a coffee and a taste of the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a long weekend getaway, this is worth checking out.
Easter at the Castle with Unique Tours
Celebrate Easter at Nemilkov Castle. From April 2 to 5, enjoy informal tours, a family-friendly atmosphere by the fireplace, and a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the castle’s restoration.
Opening of the exhibition "Journey through European monuments and art"
Nemilkov Castle cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibition "Journey through European Monuments and Art." Come and admire a unique collection of jigsaw puzzles consisting of thousands of pieces depicting famous historical sites and works of art. The exhibition will be officially opened by curator Stanislav Nauš on August 9 at 4:00 p.m.
Open House on November 17
Accept our invitation to an open house at Nemilkov Castle! On Sunday, November 17, you can view the castle interiors, newly uncovered rose windows in the ballroom, and the fireplace, which will be lit for the first time. Come enjoy the unique atmosphere of this historic site and have a little something to eat.
Winter operation begins
With the arrival of November, we are saying goodbye to regular tours at Nemilkov Castle – they will return in May. However, winter visits are still possible by prior arrangement. The exceptions will be November 17 and the Christmas holidays, when tours will be available without the need for reservations. Follow us for the latest information!
Nemilkov Castle was a surprise. It even has a mysterious hiding place where the owners hid their son.
Nemilkov Castle in the Klatovy region is an example of enthusiastic cultural heritage preservation. Alena Hesounová discovered it during her summer travels and describes her visit with a personal tour by the owner, a mysterious hiding place in the bedroom, and the fascinating history of the Schreiner family. Today, the castle is coming back to life thanks to the dedication of the Kaplan family.
The restoration of Nemilkov Castle changed the lives of its new owners
Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Kaplan, Nemilkov Castle in the Klatovy region is literally rising from the ashes. After purchasing it in 2016, they left Prague, sold everything, and invested their savings into saving the monument. Today, most of the premises have been repaired and the castle is open to the public. Their story is part of the Czech Radio series "Second Wind – New Life for Monuments."
